Meridianbet donation to female patients at St James Hospitals around Malta

Meridianbet Group has made a series of donations to maternity hospitals around the world, and partnered with St James Hospital to deliver gift packages to women currently receiving care in their facilities across Malta

This March, in recognition and support of International Women’s Day, Meridianbet Group and its staff have made a series of donations to maternity hospitals around the world, as well as having partnered with St James Hospital to deliver gift packages to women currently receiving care in their facilities across Malta.

The roots of International Women's Day can be traced back to early women’s rights movements in the early 20th century, in countries including the United States, USSR and across Europe. These early efforts by key feminist intellectuals and labour leaders — originally predominantly in the former Soviet Union — continued throughout subsequent decades, eventually leading to its official adoption by the United Nations in 1975.

In recent years, businesses across the globe have supported the observance of this day through various means including fundraising, promoting awareness and the holding of events. In accordance with these efforts, Malta-based Meridianbet Group and its employees have this year placed particular emphasis on supporting expectant mothers and medical staff, with 2022 including donations to maternity hospitals across the globe, as well as the gifting of cosmetic packages to every female patient currently receiving care at St James hospitals across the country.

These latest actions by Meridianbet continue the company’s track record of seeking to implement meaningful and effective CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programmes, with past initiatives including a series of donations and other humanitarian work designed to improve working conditions for medical staff in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

With women occupying over 65% of Meridianbet’s senior management staff, International Women’s Day is an event that seemingly not only resonates strongly with its staff, but one that also may be said to be closely aligned with the company’s core values. “We are so pleased to be part of our global Meridianbet campaign, where we joined forces to make today a special day for women whilst continuing to promote equality together every day. As a Group, Meridianbet strives to ensure equal opportunity for everyone, irrespective of race, nationality, age or gender, and these are the days to celebrate,” said Stefan Pavlovic, Head of Operations at Meridianbet.

This year’s UN International Women’s Day slogan, "Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Future Tomorrow", is, according to Meridianbet, the “foundations of our corporate policy, where 8th March is representative of every day in our organisation.”

Their partner in this endeavour, St James Hospital, has for over 25 years provided premier healthcare to patients across Malta. Known for its highly qualified staff and use of state-of-the-art technology, St James Hospital has built and maintained a respected position on Malta’s healthcare landscape, annually catering to both Maltese and international patients.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th. To find out more, visit the United Nations’ website.
