Maltese photographers win awards at The Societies Annual Convention

A delegation of ten Maltese photographers attended the largest photographic convention in Europe hosted by The Societies Annual Convention (SWPP) in London.

The convention, which was held in London, was attended by 14,000 photographers. The Maltese delegation was made up of Kevin Casha, Joe P. Smith, Sergio Muscat, Dominic Aquilina, Christopher Azzopardi, Charles Calleja, Ramon Sammut, Reuben Buhagiar, Alan Carville and Charles Zammit.

Joe P. Smith was declared Photographer of the Year in Architecture (Interiors) category as well as in the Environmental Portrait category in the online competition. He was also placed second in the Traditional Portrait category.

Christopher Azzopardi was awarded Photographer of the Year in the Traditional Portrait category of the online competition and also received the award for the highest number of Golds obtained during 2010.Sean Azzopardi was awarded Photographer of the Year in the Macro category of the online competition.

A total of 18,000 entries were made in the online competition and 350 entries made in the print competition.

Kevin Casha was also awarded the Master of The Societies accolade for his contribution to photography and achievements in the field.
