University of London Big Band at the Valletta Waterfront

The renowned University of London Big Band will bring a different beat to the Valletta Waterfront with two live concerts on June 23 and 26.

The University of London Big Band is the flagship ensemble for the University of London jazz society and is made up of 25 of the best young jazz musicians in London. The band members come from different faculties and include musicians, lawyers, vets, mathematicians, doctors and geologists, to name just a few.


The band performs regularly at the Chelsea Arts Club and has performed both at the Savoy Hotel and at the LSE Underground Bar. They have toured a number of countries including Germany, Portugal, France and Italy.


The University of London Big Band performs a wide repertoire of music with a main focus on the Great Swing Era of the 1930s and 1940s. The world famous Pete Long is currently the band's musical director. Long has worked with, and supported, such greats as Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield, and Chick Corea and is currently working with his new group The Rhythm Kitchen and leading the world renowned Ronnie Scott's Big Band.

The concerts will be held on Wednesday 23 June between 2 pm and 5.30 pm and on Saturday 26 June between 9 pm and 11 pm. Entrance is free.
