Former Labour Party MP Abigail Camilleri has ended her time in politics after failing to secure re-election in the 2026 general election.
In a Facebook post, Camilleri said her “political chapter ends here”, thanking those who believed in her and supported her throughout her journey.
“I look back with a sense of pride, I look forward with a sense of peace,” she said.
Camilleri was one of six PL candidates elected to parliament through the gender corrective mechanism in 2022, securing 394 first-count votes. In 2026, she improved on that result by securing 482 first-count votes.
During her time in parliament, she served on the education and petitions committees, as well as the standing committee on IT and AI affairs. She also chaired the Gozo affairs committee.
