Right of Reply: WT Global questions authenticity of email alleging wrongdoing
WT Global insists it operates under strict compliance standards, questions authenticity of email published by Light Passenger Operators Association alleging wrongdoing
The following is a reply sent to us by WT Global Ltd with reference to the report titled LESA CEO Denies Forgiving €33,500 In Fines After Email From WT Global, published online on 24 March 2026. The article was reporting on a statement issued by the Light Passenger Operators Association (LPOA).
The allegations made by the LPOA in its statement dated 24 March 2026 are based on an alleged email which, even from what has been publicly presented, raises serious concerns as to its authenticity, completeness, and credibility. The document shown is partial, lacks verifiable context, and does not contain any reference linking it to WT Global—no company name, no domain, and no identifiable corporate signature.
For clarity:
• WT Global does not utilise generic email services such as Gmail for official communication.
• WT Global has never employed, nor engaged, any administrative employee by the name of ‘Salem’.
• LESA did not issue €500 contraventions in 2024. Such fines fall under Transport Malta and were only introduced at a later stage, becoming effective through the LESA portal systems from October 2025.
These are basic, publicly known facts, which should be clearly understood before making serious public allegations.
It is also notable that the material circulated appears to be a photographed printout rather than an original verifiable source, further raising questions as to its origin and integrity.
Separately, we are observing patterns of online activity surrounding this matter which suggest the use of profiles with no clear connection to the local industry engaging in coordinated commentary and tagging of public officials. This type of conduct does not contribute to constructive discussion and only serves to create confusion.
WT Global operates under strict compliance standards and has consistently engaged with authorities in a transparent and accountable manner.
We take the publication of false and potentially defamatory information extremely seriously and are actively considering all appropriate legal remedies to protect our reputation.
We remain available to address any legitimate concerns through the appropriate and official channels.
