A small 10sq.m kiosk is being proposed at Kalanka tat-Tumbrell, a rocky cove on the Delimara Peninsula.

The site is currently devoid of any commercial activity.

The application, submitted by Alexander Fenech, states that the land is privately owned and not government property. It proposes a “demountable and temporary refreshments kiosk” with a WC for use during the summer months.

No outside tables, chairs or sunbeds are being proposed, as is often the case with seaside kiosks which have mushroomed on other beaches over the past decades.

The structure is proposed to be raised on columns to minimise contact with the underlying rock and will reach a height of 2.6 metres.

Kalanka tat-Tumbrell is a relatively secluded inlet, less frequented than nearby St Peter's Pool, and is mostly visited by locals, walkers and snorkelers.

Characterised by rugged limestone formations and clear, deep waters, the cove forms part of the largely undeveloped Delimara coastline. Access is via informal rural tracks rather than a paved road, contributing to its low visitor numbers.
