Assaggi Al Mare at The Lido | Summer’s moments in heaven

As the summer settles in the only place to be is at the beach. Whether it is to make the most of the Mediterranean Sea, to top up the tan or even to relax over a bottle of wine and something scrumptious to eat.

Assaggi al Mare at Tigne Lido has become a regular haunt as it seems to tick all the boxes - trendy wide sun loungers overlooking the blue pool with access to the sea just a few steps below are great for day-time enjoyment. Break up a day on the beach with a snack at lunchtime and round it off with a lavish meal all just a stone's throw away from the sea.

Assaggi al Mare is the brainchild of Ivan Lanzon Miller, who has already made a name for himself with his restaurant in St Julian's Assaggi. This summer he takes his dining experience to the beach incorporating all the tricks he's learned at Assaggi and turning them into an idealistic beach experience.

The food varies from snack options such as Black Angus burgers, club sandwiches and vegetable wraps, to full blown lunch and dinner menu options. The dishes prepared at Assaggi Al Mare have a strong Sicilian influence to them and include home-made pasta, fresh seafood and succulent meats. Try the gamberoni in padella, pan-fried local prawns, in a rich juice that is as yummy to mop up with bread as are the prawns themselves.

Or why not go for a home-baked pizza, made by the chef right before your very eyes and cooked in a traditional wooden oven.

The end of the meal need not be the end of the night. The Lido is pumping on a Sunday afternoon/evening with cocktails by the pool and a DJ spinning tunes from the 80s and 90s, courtesy of The Great White Project - a great way to end the weekend with a bang while Tuesday nights are rocked with live music at Bouncing Buddha.

Assaggi Al Mare brings the Assaggi experience to the beach, al fresco and in a casual summer atmosphere. Add a good glass of wine, the panoramic sea views and a gentle breeze... and you've got yourself Malta's summer heaven.
