False alarm shuts Marsa Park and Ride

Today's second bomb scare seems to have been caused by a misunderstanding between a bus driver and a foreign passenger

Miscommunication may have been the source of today's second bomb scare, this time in the Marsa Park and Ride.

A bus driver sounded the alarm after he "misunderstood" a Macedonian passenger saying that he was carrying a bomb on his person.

According to the Police's communications office, preliminary investigations suggest it was a case of miscommunication as the passenger in question insists he was not saying the words, and no devices were found after he was searched.

The bomb disposal unit and canine section swept the area to ensure that the entire site is clear. The area was closed to traffic and pedestrians as a result.
