[WATCH] Fire, heavy smoke engulfs factory in Hal Far

Firefighters battled fire and smoke that engulfed a recycling factory within the Hal Far industrial zone

Firefighters battled fire and smoke that engulfed a recycling factory within the Hal Far industrial zone this morning.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were dispatched to the site after police received reports of a fire at around 5:30am.

Large plumes of black smoke was seen coming out of the factory as the building's roof burns. The extent of the damage from the fire within the factory is unclear.

The smoke was observed from several localities in central and south of Malta.

Firefighters had extinguished the flames by 11:00am.

No injuries have been reported and police have not yet determined the cause of the flames.
