Swimmer dies in Gozo
The man encountered difficulty while swimming and died at hospital on Sunday evening
The man died in hospital on Sunday evening
A 56-year-old man died on Sunday evening after needing to be hospitalized while he was swimming in Gozo.
The police said in a statement that the man, who is from Germany, found himself in difficulty while he was swimming in Ghar Qawqla in Marsalforn, Gozo at roughly 1.30pm.
An ambulance took the man to Gozo General Hospital for treatment where he was certified as having sustained serious injuries.
Unfortunately, however the man died later on in the evening.
A magisterial inquiry is underway.
