Activist Omar Rababah will be contesting the general election on the Labour Party ticket.

In a Facebook post, Rababah said Prime Minister Robert Abela asked him to contest the election, and after discussing this with his family, he decided to accept.

“I wish to be the politician that I always expected from politicians. I will not promise perfection because I’m definitely not perfect. I promise authenticity and loyalty to what I believe in.”

He told MaltaToday that he believes in truly aiding those in need and being just with those who are suffering. “I believe in the fight against poverty and homelessness, the fight against solitude, and dialogue between all,” he said, adding that he does not wish to be divisive or partisan.

Rababah said that if his candidature is approved by the PL, his campaign will be a simple one where one can get to know him while he familiarises himself with the electorate.

He appealed for helpers in his campaign, adding that he will submit his nomination to the party on Saturday.
