Momentum campaign banners stolen from St Julians
Momentum calls for immediate action by the authorities to investigate these incidents thoroughly, reiterating that political intimidation and vandalism have no place in a democratic society
Just days before the election, Momentum has reported further thefts of its election banners from St Julian’s, marking the second such incident in two days.
Momentum added that this repeated targeting of campaign material is unacceptable and undermines the democratic process and the right of political parties to campaign freely and peacefully, reiterating that political intimidation and vandalism have no place in a democratic society.
The party called for immediate action by the authorities to investigate these incidents thoroughly. Given that there are public CCTV cameras installed in the area, Momentum said that it expects the authorities to identify those responsible without delay.
This adds to a saga of Momentum campaign banners being taken down during the election. Banners belonging to General Secretary and electoral candidate Mark Philip Camilleri Gambin were stolen from Marsaskala on Sunday. Last April, one of Momentum’s campaign banners was removed by the Cleansing Department shortly after being put up on Santa Venera Bridge.
