Food Safety Authority warns against Dark Mamba supplement
Supplements should not be taken unnecessarily, the health authority warned consumers
The Food Safety Authority has warned consumers not to take the food supplement Dark Mamba, saying the product has not been officially notified for sale in Malta.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the authority said the warning applies to all batches of the supplement and was issued as a precautionary measure.
The authority also cautioned that food supplements can cause unwanted side effects, particularly when taken without medical need or in excessive amounts.
“Supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet,” it said, adding that combining multiple products may result in harmful interactions with medications or existing health conditions.
The authority urged the public to avoid taking supplements unnecessarily and to seek professional advice before starting any new product.
Consumers are advised to consult a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified healthcare professional before using supplements.
