The Freedom Day Regatta has been rescheduled to start at 10am on Tuesday following warnings of rough seas and isolated thunder.

"The Regatta has been rescheduled to start at 10am on Tuesday due to rough seas and isolated thunder," organisers said.

The Met Office last week warned that windy weather may persist into the early days of Holy Week, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Freedom Day Regatta is one of two annual races, held on Freedom Day (31 March) and Victory Day (8 September). Clubs from the Three Cities and beyond compete over a 1,040-metre course in the Grand Harbour, with the top three finishers in each of five categories earning points towards the Aggregate Shield.

Eleven races are scheduled throughout the day, beginning with Dghajjes tal-Pass bi' 2 Category B at 10:00, followed by Dghajjes A tal-Midalji Category A at 10:25, Frejgatini Women at 10:50, and Kajjikki Category B at 11:15.

Racing continues with Frejgatini Category A at 11:40, Dghajjes A tal-Midalji Category B at 12:05, and Dghajjes tal-Pass bi' 2 Category A at 12:30.

The afternoon sees Frejgatini Category B at 12:55, Kajjikki Category A at 13:20, Dghajjes tal-Pass b' 4 Category B at 13:45, and Dghajjes tal-Pass b' 4 Category A at 14:10.
