The Internal Market Scoreboard is prepared every six months by the European Commission and through a set of statistical indicators reveals the extent to which Member States have transposed EU legislation into their national laws.

A statement from Busuttil's secretariat explained that "once again, Malta comes out at the top of the list of Member States in the scoreboard. On the other hand, the Czech Republic languishes at the bottom of the list."

Quoted by his secretariat, Simon Busuttil said that it was a great pleasure for him to be given the responsibility to draw up this report. "More so since I am proud to come from the country that tops the list. Simon Busuttil said during the first exchange of views on the report in the Committee.

"This report comes at a time when we are all discussing what is happening in the Eurozone. But this also gives us the opportunity to look at how we can get out of the crisis, by making full use of our Single Market, the most important project of European Integration," he said.

Busttil added that "the Internal Market is something that we have built together, that has worked and that can be further strengthened. This Scoreboard goes in that direction by establishing a public record on how each Member State is living up to its commitments in relation to the Internal Market."

He also emphasised the importance of implementation of laws and insisted that EU fines should be used as a deterrent in getting Member States to comply.

Fines are already envisaged by the EU Treaty.

Mr Busuttil tell them to get out of this crisis ECB must lower interest rates in an attempt to encourage growth in Eurozone countries, or allow the ECB to print billions of Euros to pay off sovereingn debt.

Congrats, start with Malta, that is, why do we have to pay higher prices than the rest of Europe with regards oil products, medicines and food. Those are the priorities then you can continue with the rest.
