Project Green issues vouchers for 23,000 trees under planting initiative

The Tree Planting Initiative has so far reached more than 250 beneficiaries across two phases, with vouchers continuing to be sent out in the coming weeks

Project Green has issued digital vouchers for 23,000 trees to more than 250 beneficiaries under its Tree Planting Initiative, with the scheme continuing to attract new applications.

The initiative covers two phases, with the first targeting landowners with more than one tumolo of land who applied for more than 45 trees, while the second targets those with less than one tumolo who applied for fewer than 45 trees.

The first distributions took place last month during a Family in the Park event, where 13,000 trees were handed out. Since then, more beneficiaries have joined the scheme, and a number of vouchers have already been redeemed through suppliers partnering with Project Green.

Trees available under the initiative include both productive and non-productive varieties, in line with the scheme's aim of supporting agroforestry and climate resilience. Vouchers are expected to continue being issued in the coming weeks.

Those wishing to apply can do so via the Project Green website at www.projectgreen.mt, where the list of available trees and partnering suppliers is also available. The site continues to receive new applications.

For assistance with the application process, people can call the Servizz.gov freephone at 153 (Ext. 20) or email [email protected].
