Government announces Residency Malta will remain closed on Tuesday 9 June following untimely death of its chief executive officer Jonathan Cardona last week

The government has announced the Residency Malta Agency will remain closed on Tuesday, 9 June following the death of its chief executive officer Jonathan Cardona.

In a statement, the ministry said the agency's offices will not open as a mark of respect and to allow employees to attend Cardona's funeral.

The ministry expressed its sorrow at Cardona's passing and thanked him for his years of service and valuable contribution in various roles within the public service.

"The ministry expresses its sincere condolences to Mr Cardona's family, relatives and friends," the statement read.

Cardona served as chief executive of Residency Malta Agency and held a number of positions within the public administration throughout his career.
