PN removes its communications director
The Nationalist Party unceremoniously removes its communications director, Nathaniel Attard
Nathaniel Attard has confirmed the Nationalist Party has removed him from his role as communications director but stopped short of commenting further when contacted.
Attard was appointed to the role in September 2024, serving the party then led by Bernard Grech. He was retained in the same role following the election of Alex Borg as leader in September 2025.
Attard confirmed he no longer occupied the role of communications director, when contacted by MaltaToday. However, he refrained from making any other comments, asking this news outlet to address any questions to the party.
Questions have been sent to the PN.
MaltaToday is not privy to the reasons for Attard’s removal but sources close to the party said he was unceremoniously told his services are no longer required. “His removal was abrupt,” the sources said.
The party has not commented so far and Attard’s replacement has not been announced.
Attard was a journalist at NET television for many years before becoming the TV and radio station’s head of news and editor of the PN’s daily newspaper In-Nazzjon.
In 2016, Attard left the party to become communications manager at BirdLife Malta, a bird conservation group. He stayed at BirdLife until until 2024 when he returned back to the PN.
