Judge Borg Barthet to preside over EU Court Chamber

Judge Anthony Borg Barthet elected to preside over the sixth chamber of the European Court of Justice.

Judge Anthony Borg Barthet has been elected to preside over the sixth chamber of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Currently in his second full term at the Court, Borg Barthet's has already fulfilled this role between 2004 and 2005.

Borg Barthet has been serving at the European Court of Justice since Malta's accession to the EU in 2004 and was notably the first from among the judges of the newly acceded Member States at the time to preside over a chamber.

Judge Borg Barthet was born in 1947 and graduated in law at the Royal University of Malta in 1973. Prior to his appointment as judge he served as Attorney General since 1989. He also used to lecture civil law at the University of Malta.
