New head for Maltese Augustinian order

Fr Ray Francalanza, brother of TV presenter Roberto Francalanza, chosen to lead the Maltese province of the order for the next four years.

Fr Raymond Francalanza was elected Prior Provincial to guide the Maltese Province of the religious Augustinian order.

He was elected by all the friars of the province, in an election which took place in early December.

The Prior Provincial is the head of the Province and of all its houses, churches and missions in Malta, Gozo and abroad.

His term starts on 6th February 2014 and lasts four years.

Francalanza hails from Zejtun and was ordained priest in 1990. Among several positions, he held the post of Rector at St Augustine’s College in Pietà for six years and Parish Priest of St. Augustine’s in Valletta since 2010.

He pursued his studies in Sacred Theology and graduated with a doctorate in 2009.
