Tourist injured in Wied iż-Żurrieq

Civil Protection Department called in to carry injured woman to ambulance

A woman in her 60s was hospitilased this morning after she slipped on the rocks at Wied iż-Żurrieq. She had to be carried by the Civil Protection personnel to the ambulance.

The accident happened at around 10:20am when the woman, a tourist, was walking with her husband when she slipped and injured herself.

Being unable to walk, her husband called for help and in no time an ambulance was on the scene together with the District Police led by Sergeant Malcolm Pace. An off-duty policeman, Sergeant David D’Amato who at the time was nearby, also lent assistance on hearing the sirens.

Because the ambulance could not get close to where the woman fell, the CPD was called in to assist and together with the police and the medical team they  carried the woman to the ambulance and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

The woman might have suffered a broken leg.
