Busuttil wrong on unemployment and salaries - PL

“It is futile for Busuttil to keep quiet on Sundays if he will then be negative and erroneous on the remaining days of the week,” says  Labour.

The Labour Party has issued a statement in which it refers to forecasts published by the European Commission - which claim that the average salary in Malta will increase by 0.5% in the first three years of a Labour government. This contrasts with a slight decrease in the country’s average salary in the PN’s last three years in government.

The statement also refers to Busuttil’s concerns on unemployment over the past few months – claims which the PL said were proven wrong by various statistics issued by sources such as the National Statistics Office and the European Commission itself.

“Simon Busuttil criticised the situation of unemployment and described it as alarming but was proven wrong by results published by many sources, including the European Commission, the National Statistics Office and international credit rating agencies,” the PL said. “He is now also being proved wrong on salaries.”

“The forecast on salaries as well as statistics that prove that unemployment is at its lowest for the past 15 years, completely belie what the Opposition Leader has been claiming all these months. It is futile for Busuttil to keep quiet on Sundays if he will then be negative and erroneous on the remaining days of the week.”
