Businesses are suffering because of tensions between Libya's two governments, with visas issued by one being denied by the other and professionals in the sector struggling to continue their work in a climate of uncertainty. Some 200 Maltese businesses operate in Libya and most report cash flow and insurance issues as threats to their business.

This newspaper has called upon the new minister of home affairs Carmelo Abela to publish two reports, which were compiled over 18 months ago. The reports concern the case of Daryl Luke Borg and the case of an individual who assaulted a police officer in the Zabbar police station.

The Meteorological Office has confirmed that what was first thought to be snow, which fell on the Maltese Islands on the coldest days of the past year, was in fact a case of 'snow pellets', formed when rain drops clump together in low temperatures.

Members of Parliament and a representative of Alternattiva Demokratika have expressed mixed views on the proposed change to the remuneration package offered to MPs as well as the proposal to create a full-time parliament. The issue of leaving a career for politics and the economic impact of higher salaries were put forward.
