Young voters will make a difference - Busuttil

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil urged young voters to exercise their democratic right | New election website launched

It is a shame that youths, between 16 and 17 years of age, voting in the local council elections will not be allowed to vote in the spring hunting referendum, said Opposition leader Simon Busuttil.

Busuttil was visiting the Junior College in Msida. He urged young voters to exercise their democratic right and to vote for those representatives who entered the political scene to serve others, saying that they would be making a difference with their vote.

He pointed out that almost half of the PN local council candidates are under 40, proof of the party's drive to renew itself.

He noted how despite giving youths the right to vote, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat had refused them the opportunity to vote in the referendum. "It was through pressure from the Opposition that the local council elections will be taking place," he said.

He went on to thank the PN youth movement (MZPN), which is represented in Junior College, MCAST, ITS and the Naxxar Higher Secondary, and urged those who are allowed to vote to do so on 11 April.

New election website launched

The Nationalist Party yesterday launched the site www.naghmludifferenza.com which includes information relating to PN candidates for the local council elections in April.

The site also includes the PN electoral programs for 34 different locations around Malta and Gozo.
