460 Agenzija Sapport clients worked on over 600 gifts to be presented to delegates of the Commonwealth forum being held next week.

Family minister Michael Farrugia explained that the project, which had taken over two months, had been divided amongst nine different day centres, with members creating original handmade pieces for the participants.

He explained that various gifts included paper weights, keyholders, key rings and others and that the participants in the project would also be present at the Commonwealth People’s Forum making crafts with their care workers.

“The activity proved both therapeutic and educational,” he said, adding that he looked forward to participating in the discussions himself.

Farrugia said that one of the subject to be tackled would be adoption and the creation of a supportive framework amongst Commonwealth countries to simplify processes.

Chairperson of the Commonwealth People's Forum Jackie Micallef Grimaud said that the gifts created for the delegates had been the result of the forum's efforts.

“The discussions will centre on migration, climate change and blue economies, among others, with over 500 confirmed delegates and 800 applicants,” she said.

She added that the theme of the forum was resilience and what makes a society resilient.

The forum is due to start next Monday 23 November and finish in Gozo on Thursday 26 November.
