'Enhanced' security presence in key strategic locations during CHOGM

Planned training exercises will commence on Monday morning and will concentrate around the Grand Harbour Area and inside Maltese territorial waters

Security presence in key strategic locations will be enhanced both for training and operational purposes during CHOGM 2015, the government said.

This will be conducted, amongst others, by means of AFM’s air, maritime and land elements.

For certain phases of this operation, the British Forces will be participating with and supporting the AFM in order to maximise the operational capability for all eventualities.

“Following the successful security operation at the Valletta Summit on Migration, preparations are currently in full swing for the final security arrangements for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting,” the government said.

“The Malta Police and Armed Forces of Malta will be once again‎ supported by the British Military Forces as per an agreement that was reached some weeks back.‎”

Planned training exercises will commence on Monday morning and will concentrate around the Grand Harbour Area and inside Maltese territorial waters.

“The Government of Malta assures the public that all activity is aimed at enhancing security. This is being done as a measure of precaution.”
