A two-year-old boy in need of medical assistance was hospitalised yesterday evening following a rescue operation by the Armed Forces of Malta, the Department of Information said.

Earlier, the AFM had received a request for assistance by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Rome, leading the Rescue Coordination Centre Malta to coordinate the medical evacuation.

The AFM dispatched an AW 139 helicopter, which brought the patient to Malta, together with his 23-year-old father and 4-year-old brother. The two-year-old was handed over to medical staff from Mater Dei Hospital.
