Chocolate-covered banana sticks

Kids love chocolate. Why not get them to make it a little healthier by adding banana and some nuts? Sean Gravina’s recipe will have the kids enjoying making these just as much as they will enjoy eating them.

Chocolate-covered banana sticks

Ingredients

  • 250g chocolate, chopped
  • 6 wooden skewers
  • 2 bananas, peeled and cut crosswise into thirds
  • 1/3 cup salted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Method

  1. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over (not in) a pan of gently simmering water. Stir just until melted.
  2. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  3. Insert a wooden skewer in one end of each banana piece.
  4. Dip banana, one piece at a time, in chocolate, spooning on additional chocolate to cover.
  5. Sprinkle each banana with peanuts, and set on prepared baking sheet.
  6. Refrigerate until chocolate is firm (approx. 20 mins) or up to 3 days.
