Energy ministry sets up water conservation agency
New unit will have CEO and will devise energy and waster conservation policies
The ministry for energy and water conservation has set up an agency, the Sustainable Energy and Water Conservation Unit, to design, implement and disseminate the government's policy on water, conventional energy and alternative energy.
The unit will develop and coordinate conventional and alternative energy policies and measures, together with water policy and secure governance across government minities,
Itr will also monitor and review conventional energy, alternative energy and water conservation policies in accordance with European Union and international requirements.
The unit, which is being set up as a government agency, will also an educational and information framework to influence behaviour on alternative energy use and draw up laws to support energy policies.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry responsible forenergy and water conservation will supervise the unit, but will also have a chief executive officer.
