A Eurocopter AS350 helicopter, equipped with a Cineflex gyro-stabilized film camera system was utilised to film the event. This system is used for film and television production, news and broadcast television and high-profile sporting events including the Middle Sea Race.

This was the first time that Air Malta aircraft flew in formation together and air to air filming was organised by the airline. Local renowned photographer, Kurt Arrigo, was entrusted with the photography and the setting up of an international team that could film the event.

A lot of planning was made to organise and coordinate this experience by various Air Malta departments that included, Flight Operations - who planned and coordinate the flights, Marketing and Branding, Corporate Communications, Cargo and Ground Handling Services.

The planning also included the participation of several organisations amongst which were the Malta Air Traffic Services and the Department of Civil Aviation. Throughout the planning and execution of the flight Safety was paramount.

The two Air Malta aircraft were commanded by Capt Mark Micallef Eynaud, Chief Officer Flight Operations and Capt Patrick Calleja, Head of Aircraft Operations. Capt Micallef Eynaud has previous formation flying experience in the Royal Air Force.

"This initiative was organised in line with Air Malta's new focus of becoming a destination airline and an Ambassador and guide to what the Maltese islands can offer. Typical Maltese landmarks were chosen that illustrate how the islands are blessed with a rich historical and cultural heritage that make the destination even more attractive for visitors. These included Valletta, Mdina, the Blue Lagoon, Dwejra and Golden Bay", said Air Malta Chief Executive, Peter Davies.

The material shot will be used in the Marketing and Public Relations activities in Malta and abroad including the airline's in-flight magazine - Il-Bizzilla, the new website and across the airline's social media channels including Facebook. The event will continue to build the airline image and footage library to promote better the airline and the Maltese islands.

Mr Davies you have a lot more to learn where the best places in Malta are. You missed out not showing the shanty boathouses that represent the islands of Malta and Gozo. You also missed showing Mellieha Bay the most visited and the best swimming area in all of Malta. You missed to show the newly built Ferry Terminals at Cirkewwa and Mgarr Gozo and most of all you neglected to show one of Air Malta's Historical possession, the Majestic Selmun Palace or maybe you are ashamed to show it in the state it is in? So Air Malta gets a new office building to better accommodate the big wigs of the Airline and now you are spending all these thousands of borrowed money (almost 200,000,000 million euros as bail out) to show off our Air Power. Any more tricks up your sleeve Mr Davies? Oh I forgot the Gangnam Dance production. How appropriate!
