Emirates marks its 110th destination to Basra

Emirates has marked in 110th international flight destination to Basra in Iraq this month, operating both passenger and cargo services between Basra and Dubai. 

The Dubai Basra connection will help link Iraq to the rest of the world. Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline said, “Iraq is experiencing a surge in growth and it is our goal to help the country prosper and flourish. Emirates is committed to working alongside the Iraqi authorities to make Basra a success,”

Basra is the first new destination for Emirates in 2011, to be followed by Geneva to launch of 1 June followed by Copenhagen on 1 August.

Emirates expects to be transporting a wide variety of goods including equipment for oil and petroleum companies, perishable food items, medical products, car parts, garments, textiles and various electronic items such as mobile phones. Goods travelling in the other direction – to the likes of the United States, USA, China, India and the UK - will include petroleum products, grains, wool and dates.

The service will operate four times a week each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

EK 945 departs from Dubai at 13:45 hours and touches down at Basra International Airport at 14:45 hours the same day. At 16:15 hours, return flight EK 946 departs from Basra touching down in Dubai at 19:10 hours and connects with key industry hubs in Europe.

Emirates operates flights on a daily schedule from Malta to Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.
