Union demands conclusions on MIA meteorologists’ dispute

Union Haddiema Maghqudin accuses Industrial Tribunal of failing to provide conclusions into industrial dispute

Union Haddiema Maghqudin today filed a judicial protest urging the Industrial Tribunal to set a date to publish its conclusions over the dispute the union registered for meteorologists at the Malta International Airport.

On 8 July, 2008, the UHM registered an industrial dispute with MIA over the airport's employees who worked as meteorologists. However three years later, the tribunal's decision is still unknown.

The Industrial Tribunal was constituted by chairperson Dr Leslie Cuschieri and Charles Magro and Joseph Farrugia as members. Following the hearing of submissions the tribunal stopped short of appointing a date to reveal its decision. The union filed a number of complaints demanding a date to conclude the case, which complaints were always ignored.

The union filed a judicial protest Wednesday demanding that justice is served with the publication of its conclusions. UHM also said it would hold the tribunal responsible for damages suffered by the airport's meteorologists.
