Man pleads guilty to assaulting his sister

Man who admitted to assaulting his sister and her partner is granted bail pending judgement, as victims are placed under a protection order.

Domenic Sant, 34 of San Gwann was granted bail awaiting judgement after pleading to assaulting his sister Maria Dolores Sant and her partner Joshua Mifsud on Sunday.

Prosecuting inspector Darryl Borg explained that during an argument with his sister, the accused assaulted both her and her partner and damaged their BMW vehicle. In the commotion that followed Mifsud was slightly injured.

Sant was charged with attempting to grievously injure Mifsud and slightly injuring him, damaging his vehicle, threatening his own sister and her partner, carrying an unlicensed knife and breaching public order.

The accused, represented by legal aid lawyer Dorianne Vella, pleaded guilty as charged.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella granted bail to the accused under a personal guarantee of 2,000. The court also issued a protection order over the victims.

Magistrate Vella postponed the case to next Thursday for final judgement.
