Skinny-dipping Frenchman attacks policeman

A Frenchman who had stripped off all his clothes to jump into Spinola Bay, St Julians attacked a police sergeant. This was after the policeman had tried to stop him from jumping into the sea and had tried to take him to the nearby police station.

The sergeant fell, banged his head, and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital. He was certified as having suffered light injuries. The full extent of his injuries is as yet unknown.

The incident occurred at around 7:30am. The assailant has been remanded in custody.
