After weeks of controversy and attacks Omar Rababah performs poorly in election

Omar Rababah contested the 6 and 7 districts, where he received 151 and 152 first-count votes respectively

Labour Party candidate Omar Rababah has failed to win a seat in either of the two districts he contested, securing a combined total of 304 votes.

Rababah stood in the sixth and seventh districts, where he received 151 and 152 first-count votes, respectively.

His candidacy attracted significant public attention during the campaign and was met with a wave of racist abuse on social media.

Rababah has not publicly commented on his electoral performance. However, in a Facebook post published on Saturday after voting concluded, he said the party's success remained his primary concern.

"The most important thing for me is victory for the party," he said. He thanked supporters and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in Malta's democratic process.

Rababah was born in Malta to a Syrian father and Maltese mother. He described himself during the campaign as someone who stands for and would defend Maltese values

During the campaign, Prime Minster Robert Abela had publicaly supported Rababah, and defended his nomination amidst the criticism.
