Man injured in Safi armed ambush
A 66 year-old man has been hospitalised with gun shot wounds after allegedly having been ambushed by two armed men while driving home in Safi last night.
Police reported that the 66 year-old man from Zurrieq was driving home in a car through Dun Karm Lia street in Safi, when the road was suddenly blocked by another car, from which two hooded and armed men fired a gun towards him.
Injured, the victim managed to flee the scene and make it to the Zurrieq Police Station where he asked for an ambulance.
Police sources have said that the man was operated on soon after being admitted into Mater Dei Hospital and his condition was not life threatening. His condition is stable.
Police investigations are underway and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
