'Cut out the hypocrisy on environmental protection' - AD

Government is hypocritical in continuing to adamantly defend hunting in spring, Alternattiva Demokratika says.

Alternattiva Demokratika hit out at environment minister Leo Brincat who today addressed a conference on the implementation and enforcement of environmental legislation.

"It takes quite a nerve to address a European conference on enforcement of environmental law and protection of bio-diversity when Minister Brincat forms part of a government that lengthened the Spring hunting season, extended the September hunting hours by four every day and continues to adamantly defend hunting in spring. Let's cut out the hypocrisy, please," AD chairperson Arnold Cassola said.

AD Deputy Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo pointed out that both Labour and the PN are hostages to the hunters lobby.

"AD is aware that Labour in Government will like the PN in government before it do its utmost to ensure that hunters have a field day. The day of reckoning is however fast approaching. AD salutes its sister organisations members of the Coalition to Abolish Spring Hunting and thanks the public which has responded so far by signing the petition to call a referendum to ensure the consigning of spring hunting to history."
