A report carried by The Times of Malta reveals that patients pay a third of the total annual expenditure on healthcare. This percentage is high in comparison to other EU countries and the report gave several reasons people might choose private over public, including continuity of care, more convenient appointment times and shorter waiting times for surgery.

The motion for Judge Farrugia Sacco’s impeachment was on the agenda yesterday but disagreement on the timing of the discussion between MPs has lead to further delays on the case, according to the front page of In-Nazzjon. The discussion was deferred to the 28 February parliamentary sitting.

Residents in Zejtun had never seen Pietru ‘il-Ħaqqa’ Cassar’s garage doors open, L-Orizzont reports. This information has given rise to the theory that the victim of last week’s murder had been waiting for someone when he was shot twice.

Gas tankers and atomic bombs cannot be compared
Experts in the field have told The Malta Independent that while an LNG tanker explosion would be disastrous, comparing it to ’50 atomic bombs’ was completely inappropriate. Birzebbuga councillor Stanley Zammit made the comment in protest of the plans to store gas aboard a tanker in Marsaxlokk.
