The Water Services Corporation is currently riding on a high with estimates for 2013 forecasting a €5 million profit. This is sharply contrasts with the €2.8 million losses the company suffered the previous year.

In an interview on Sunday newspaper Illum, WSC chairman & CEO William Wait attributes the turnaround to a drastic reduction in water leakages and what is known within the corporation as non-revenue water.

Wait explains that in 1995, WSC was producing a total of 4,000 cubic meters of water per hour which was “lost” before reaching the customer, utilising five reverse osmosis plants operating at 100% capacity.

Today, the total amount of non-revenue water is just 450 cubic meters per hour utilising three plants at 60% capacity, saving the country water and money.
