A 24-year-old from Żurrieq drove his BMW car to the police station after claiming he had received a bomb threat at 7:30am.

The motorists said he received a telephone call which warned him of a bomb having been placed underneath his car. Despite being warned of the possible threat, he still took the decision to drive his car to the police station in St Catherine Street in Żurrieq to report the incident.

District Police closed the street and members from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit were called to inspect the car. But following a thorough inspection of the car, no bomb, or explosives, were be found.

District Police led by Inspector Johan Fenech and PS Shaun Vassallo are investigating.
