Opposition leader Simon Busuttil has called for the resignation of those involved in the Gaffarena deal, which saw the developer receive €1.6 million in cash and lands for half of a Valletta property, notably planning secretary Michael Falzon and the shouldering of responsibility by the prime minister.

The Old Mint Street scandal is proof that corruption has been institutionalised within the country, said PN leader Simon Busuttil during a radio interview. He made reference to a MaltaToday interview with planning secretary Michael Falzon, wherein he admitted to having met and traveled with Gaffarena prior to the deal.

PM Joseph Muscat reacted to a report carried by It-Torca, which said that former finance minister Tonio Fenech would receive sensitive and confidential information from the heads of the NSO, the MFSA and the Central Bank. Muscat said that the government would not be undermined by partisanship.
