Adrian Delia, one of the four candidates vying for the leadership of the Nationalist Party (PN) has said that if elected leader he would see to it that the party “opens its doors” in order to allow itself to become a nest of “thoughts and ideas”.

The aim of this, he said, would be for the party to be able to make a difference in people’s lives.

Speaking at a meeting for PN members in Mosta, Delia insisted that as leader, he would “ensure that anyone holding the party close to heart” would be welcome and would be given the opportunity to contribute to the PN’s politics.

The theme of the lawyer and political newcomer’s campaign is “A New Way”, which he said meant seeing the PN bring together different perspectives. These perspectives, he said, would once again make the PN the answer to “our children’s aspirations”.

Delia promised to strengthen the party’s structures by creating more “synergy” between them, particularly “by fusing the energy of the youths with the experience of the veterans”.

Moreover, he said that as leader he would commit the PN to creating a factual plan to continue strengthening the party’s finances.

During the meeting Delia reiterated that he stands with outgoing leader Simon Busuttil in the “fight against corruption”, and promised a vision for having a “normal” democratic country were “institutions can truly work without fear or favour”.
