Worker falls down quarry, sustains serious injuries

A manual labourer, 41, fell off a truck and hurt himself at the bottom of a quarry in Siġġiewi, the police said. 

The incident happened at 11am on Monday in a quarry in Triq Bur ix-Xewk, Siġġiewi. The Qormi district police were alerted.

The man was found at the bottom of the quarry and was pulled out by the Civil Protection Department.

He was immediately taken to Mater Dei hospital where he was certified as suffering from critical injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
