A march that was to be held this afternoon to mark the first year since Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder has been postponed to Tuesday because of bad weather.

Occupy Justice and Manuel Delia, the organisers, said this morning that the event, billed as a march ‘For truth and justice’, will now be held at 7pm next Tuesday in Valletta. People are being asked to meet at the top of Republic Street.

Tuesday marks the exact day when Caruana Galizia was slain by a powerful car bomb just after leaving her house in Bidnija.

Meanwhile, in Facebook post, Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi has called on Parliament to pay its respects to the murdered journalist by postponing the parliamentary session scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Parliament meets between 4pm and 7.30pm on Tuesdays.

Caruana Galizia was killed on 16 October 2017 by a car bomb triggered by an SMS. Three men stand accused with her murder and the compilation of evidence against them is ongoing.

Several international media freedom NGOs will also be in Malta over the coming three days to meet government and civil society representatives.
