Ireland came into this match as the under dogs of the group since they were coming from a four-game losing strike at the championships, which is the longest of any team featuring in this tournament. However, they knew that they have what it takes to beat world class teams since they are participating in this tournament after beating the world champions, Germany.

On the other hand, Sweden have Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their squad who can be considered as the most wanted free agent player. Further to this, such player is coming from an excellent season with a total of 50 goals, 11 of which were registered with the Swedish shirt in the qualifying campaign. The 34 year old will definitely be aiming to find the net at four different European championships.

Sweden had a promising start, but as time went by, Ireland gained confidence and opened their account in Euro 2016 on the 48th minute when Coleman picked the ball down the right flank before crossing the ball towards Hoolahan who had no difficulty in putting the ball in the right corner behind Isaksson.

After going a goal down, Sweden started to improve, and their efforts paid on the 71st minute when Ibrahimovic sent a dangerous cross into the goal area who was met by Clark, with the Irish player commiting an own goal in his attempt to head the ball.

This result means that points were shared, with Belgium yet to face Italy in what can be considered as a thrilling encounter later this evening.
