'Fair Play and Respect' for the good of the local game

Local Referees to wear ''No Referees, No Sport - Respect Please'' orange shirt in protest to growing abuse directed towards match officials in the game

The Malta Football Referees Association will be addressing a meeting directed towards all those involved in the local game condemning verbal and violent acts towards referees and match officials at all levels of the game.

The decision for referees to wear a printed orange shirt with the words ‘’No Referees, No Respect – Respect Please’’ is the latest protest from the Association pleading for more respect to referees controlling the game.  The Referees Association feels this latest move is needed with referees and match officials being targeted for abuse on a regular basis.

The Malta Football Association has joined forces with the initiative and stated how the beautiful game should be ruled through fair play and respect, as it represents the positive benefits of playing by the rules while respecting fellow players, referees, opponents and fans.
