Two more hunters apprehended inside nature reserve
Poachers try their luck despite deployment of armed forces on surveillance duty.
Following the government's decision at the start of the week to draft in Armed Forces of Malta soldiers to reinforce the police against the onslaught of illegal hunting and trapping during the first two weeks of the season, two men were again photographed hunting inside a protected area on Thursday.
This time the two hunters were seen hunting inside the Ghadira Nature Reserve protected zone, a buffer zone around the protected wetland reserve which extends the bird sanctuary to prevent hunters from targeting birds around the reserve.
The incident was reported to the police's Administrative Law Enforcement unit and the location of the last whereabouts of the two men was pointed out. ALE officers went to search for the men, but it is not known whether they were apprehended.
