Serbian jailed for four years over string of offences

31-year-old Serbian man jailed for four years after pleading guilty to theft and forgery charges.

Milan Milanovic, a 31-year-old Serbian man residing at St Paul’s Bay, was this afternoon jailed for four years after pleading guilty to a string of offences, among which include theft and forgery.

The accused was charged with stealing two Rolex watches in October 2013, which theft was aggravated by time, person, means and amount. In addition, the 31-year-old admitted to stealing two credit cards and a cheque book from inside a vehicle.

Milanovic, who denied legal aid, also pleaded guilty to forging a bank document of which any payment may be obtained, of obtaining money by false pretences, of making malicious use of false documents and of unlawfully gaining €990 to the detriment of Bank of Valletta.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Carol Peralta handed the man a four-year-imprisonment term effective today and ordered his deportation once his prison term ends.
