Police recover corpse in Cospicua

The police recovered an elderly man’s corpse from Dock 1 in Cospicua earlier today.

The grim discovery was made by two teenagers, who saw the corpse floating face down as they were walking on the promenade.

17-year-old Christian Martin, and 19-year-old Dyna Lee Vella informed the police straight away and they said that they saw the man floating face down wearing normal clothes, with a shoe floating next to him.

Two policeman reportedly jumped into the sea to try to save the man but he was already dead as a small crowd of people gathered in the area.

A magisterial inquiry is being held and it is unknown how long the man had been dead and whether foul play was involved.

The man has been identified as Maltese.
