Ministers ‘putting pressure’ on workers against joining the GWU

General Workers’ Union (GWU) secretary-general Tony Zarb claims Ministers are pressuring workers against joining the union.

In an interview with sister newspaper Illum, Zarb said the union is not benefiting from any privileges, and has now found itself in a disadvantaged position.

“If in Malta there is a union which is privileged, it certainly is not the GWU,” Zarb said. “When the time comes, the union will be revealing the number of occasions where others were chosen instead of it … all because of this government. ”

Zarb added that until today, the union had never been faced by ministers who “put pressure on employers so that their workers do not join the GWU but join other unions.”

Typical Tony Zarb spiel. talks a lot and says nothing. He should be in politics. Oh, just a minute, isn't the GWU a section of the Labour party anyway?

Come to think about it, the whole report does not make sense.
